European Climate Initiative
Applications are invited for the European Climate Initiative, which enables funding for a variety of international cooperation projects aimed at climate action.
The European Climate Initiative (EUCI) is a programme to strengthen international cooperation in the further development and implementation of ambitious climate policies. The initiative primarily targets countries from Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, including the Baltic States and the Western Balkan countries.
The programme is organised by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
Each project is open to 2 - 5 partners.
Funding ranges from 120.000 euros to 1.000.000 euros per project.
The EUCI call is divided into two stages.
Preliminary proposals are submitted as part of phase I. If the pre-application is accepted, a detailed project proposal is submitted as part of stage II of the call.
The deadline for the submission of pre-applications is 13 January 2023.
The submission of full proposals is scheduled for June 2023.

The European Climate Initiative (EUCI) funds climate projects that focus on topics such as:
- climate-friendly finance;
- climate-neutral mobility;
- climate policy;
- CO2 sinks;
- energy policy;
- socially just transition/sustainable economy;
- sustainable tourism.
Possible projects address issues such as:
- climate change mitigation;
- Institutional capacity building;
- knowledge exchange networking;
- implementation of policies and their instruments;
- developing strategies and carrying out feasibility studies;
- raising awareness, education and dissemination.
All, implemented projects should contribute directly or indirectly to strengthening climate action in the targeted countries.
Project leaders and partners can be government institutions, local government units, educational institutions and consumers.
