Youth Democracy Festivals Toolbox

As part of the D-EFFECT project - Democracy Lessons from Civil Society, Bringing a Youth Perspective into Policy-Making at All Levels - a methodology for Youth Democratic Festivals (YDFs) was developed in line with the Youth Strategy 2022-2027. They are an excellent tool for increasing youth civic participation and a platform for youth-adult collaboration, culminating in a joint event. This allows both parties to find common ground, develop engaging solutions, and ultimately, through collaboration, contribute to building a conscious democratic society.

Youth Democracy Festivals have a specific structure, which, when followed, will ensure satisfactory results while allowing sufficient flexibility for each festival to respond to local needs and challenges. This Toolbox will familiarize both those who are just a cursory observer of democracy-related issues and those who would like to organize one themselves with this method. We encourage you to find answers to the various questions below. There you will find information about the context of the Festivals and the situation of young people from a democratic perspective, as well as tools to help the organizer guide the entire process from beginning to end.
