NBS Markets

The overall goal of the project is to create strong partnerships that work together to develop and test methods for introducing nature-based solutions in markets. Implementation of a future regular project will increase the use of green technologies in cities and locally solve the problem of pollution and waste generated by markets. The seed money project will be used to identify city partners for the target project, locate problem areas and create an outline plan for research and projects, for future implementation.The goal of the seed money project is to develop four “teams” researching and implementing pilot solutions in four different locations. Each team will consist of at least two partners, including:

  1. R&D partner responsible for research and development,
  2. Municipal partner responsible for carrying out the pilot and assessment.

Public markets play an important role in European cities. They are places of trade with a potential to become places of sustainable consumption, inclusiveness and environmental transformation. This potential is already recognised by international organisations and individual municipalities (notably cities of Barcelona and London) across Europe. However, it still remains untapped in many areas, especially in Central and Eastern European cities of the SB region. Markets in cities from Central and Eastern Europe have their own set of particularities resulting from their geographical location (climate), they are often localised in central parts of city districts, offer direct access to local produce and are important meeting places. At the same time, they are places that are very often heavily concreted, with little architectural value and devoid of greenery. They are often a source of surface runoff with various origins as well as pollution content resulting from heavy pedestrian and road traffic and trade activities. Despite common characteristics of markets, there is a need to develop solutions that suit their individual needs based on the site-specific issues. We see the current situation not only as a chance to regenerate public markets but also to introduce new vital functions transforming them into spaces rejuvenating neighbourhoods. The project seeks to tackle the potential of urban markets to become catalysts for environmental change. The overall objective of the project is to establish strong partnerships that cooperate to develop and test methods to introduce nature based solutions in markets. Implementation of the future regular project will increase the use of green technologies in cities and address the issue of pollution and waste generated by markets locally. The seed money project will serve to identify municipal partners for the target project, locate problem areas and create an outline of a research and project plan, to be implemented in the future.

Indigise

The project is seeking new tools to reassure social business concept development and dissemination. Currently, the aid for social business is fragile, especially regarding using innovative informal learning methods. Students nowadays live in modern technology era when they are using computers, tablets, and mobiles for spending their free time and that ́s why we have decided to use advanced technology to bring the education to students by using the computers. DIGITAL TOOLS deliver one of the innovative methods - it is a well-known fact that all types of innovation - technological and societal, top-down and bottom-up (as in our project case) are using the ICT solutions such as the Internet, data gathering, social media. They all seems as crucial for catalysing the innovative process and spreading know-how across the borders

We foresee the project innovativeness due to several reasons:

This project can be seen as innovative also due to the following reasons:

The project will have a set of key outputs:

Delivery of youth-oriented, innovative educational tools to develop the entrepreneurial competence in the field of social economy;

The InnoCamps we foresee as a crucial part of our project and key-deliverable, as we've noticed that there are many compelling ideas about ‘what’ needs to be done in the field of social entrepreneurship in general. Our InnoCamps are meant to be pilot initiatives both for Lithuania and Norway, that once tested - will be described in details and available to other stakeholders (teachers, experts, youth workers, NGOs etc.) in whole Europe - they will receive complete Handbook with step-by-step guide what to do to prepare similar InnoCamp in their country/organization.

SB YCGN

The SB YCGN project addresses the low participation of local actors in the South Baltic Region and their need for capacity building. By bringing together newly arrived local authorities, in cooperation with universities, NGOs and youth, the project aims to show the benefits of soft cross-border cooperation in solving common problems in the field of low cooperation. The umbrella organization, which is the Association of Polish Communes Euroregion Baltic, which is part of the Euroregion Bałltic, will facilitate and will be an impulse for networking in the field of youth and involving new actors in internationalization. A YCG network will be established in 4 South Baltic countries. The main goal of the project is to increase cross-border cooperation that results in building the potential of local actors working with citizens.

The aim of the project is:

YCGN aims to broaden the knowledge of all stakeholders - partner cities together with the university network will conduct a joint survey among local actors in order to identify their needs and problems, providing comparable data. It is a form of sharing good practices (development and implementation of a survey in CaSYPoT). In addition, it will lead to the creation of joint knowledge-based youth modelling processes, enabling local authorities to involve young people in decision-making. YCGN will result in a new quality of the network that will promote the exchange of information on local, national and international levels, contribute to building leadership, fostering civic engagement and create opportunities to see and understand youth issues in a wider context. Finally, it activates the mutual learning process and establishes a common understanding of the entire participatory process at the international level through a practical campaign in 4 countries.

CTCC

CTCC – CREATIVE TRADITIONAL COMPANIES COOPERATION

within the frame of the South Baltic Programme 2014–2020 (ERDF part-financed), 3rd Call

Traditional industry sectors are the backbone for the regional economy, but they suffer from pressure resulting from the environmental impact. Maritime transport is vital for regional development and in the entire EU, since approx. 90% of goods destined for markets other than the EU is supported by maritime transport. Maritime related activities that of transport and shipbuilding, energy-producing & energy utilisation as well as coastal tourism incl. small-scale infrastructure (yachting and cruising) are forced to search for new innovative and sustainable solutions as a result of environmental pressure (e.g. to reduce greenhouse and other emissions), to comply with new policy regulations for transport and related activities and to change the negative or ZERO innovation performance according to the recent JRC Technical Report on Blue Growth and Smart Specialisation (2016).

CTCC improves innovation performance of key target group – minimum 200 Danish, German, Polish, Lithuanian and Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the South Baltic Sea Region (SBSR) until 30th June 2020 from three targeted traditional manufacturing sectors that contribute to blue and green growth improved innovation of traditional SMEs is achieved by engaging in cross-sectoral collaboration with 100 freelances, start-ups and SMEs from three Creative Industries. The project delivers four cross-border solutions for innovation development, management & exploitation:
1) triple-helix creative-business partnership and creative brokering platform facilitating innovation;
2) cross-sectoral innovation training methodology;
3) 30 specific demand-driven innovation solutions for traditional SMEs and regions, such as environmentally-friendly and ergonomic ship design, simulators for maritime applications; improved secure and safe navigation signs at harbours and coastal areas; and
4) four sustainable self-running and financing mechanisms for developed models exploitation beyond the project life.

CTCC is a non-profit project, part-financed from the Euro-pean Regional Development Funds (ERDF) within the South Baltic Programme 2014-2020. CTCC consortium consists of 10 direct partners and more than 30 associated partners aim at enhancing innovation capacity and improving innovation performance within product, service, processes or market portfolios of traditional sector Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). Together with creative people from the Creative Industries (design, architecture, adverting and software & games), we work for you – our target group – traditional sector SMEs from the South Baltic Sea Region (SBSR) covering coastal regions of Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden until 14th January 2021. In this, we contribute to Blue and Green Growth in the Region and the EU.“
